More than 200 D.C teachers fired

The teachers were dismissed due to low IMPACT testing scores. Those teachers that were rated low were let go. Those that were rated effectiviely, recieved a 25,000 bonus. This is the school district taking more interest in the school and the students. The school districts recognizes the importance in good teachers and that they are critical to the students success. When the IMPACT test was first intoduced to D.C public school 70 percent of the techers were rated effectively. Today, only 16 percent were rated effectively. With focusing on racial stereotypes in unit one, we too see that in D.C public schools. Society assumes that because D.C publics schools are majority black that it has a factor in the test scores, but in reality it is due to the lack of teachers pushing the students.
