Maryland expecting modest bump in football season ticket sales

Last year was my first year at Maryland and I remember last year hearing that the football team did not get a lot of support. Even though the had a much improved year with many star players ticket sales declined for the 6Th straight year. I even only went to 2 home games so this article had me interested to see the ways that they school was going to try to change that. There is a lot of excitement around the team now with most of the foundation of last year team that had 9 wins returning and a new head coach that knows how to win. This years home season is more exciting as well with more high profile teams on the schedule. I've noticed coach Randy Edsall all over the city on billboards and websites and commercials promoting the team and the season to encourage the ticket sales. The school and football program have promoted the season with special packages to make it easier to buy tickets. They have come out with a website Marylandfootball2011.com and have a Maryland Athletics Facebook Page to get the fans more involved with the program. Maryland is not the only school in the ACC to struggle in ticket sales, Virginia Tech, Clemson, and Georgia Tech have all declined in sales over the past years. So it will be interesting to see if these changes can help the sales come up it seems to be working with already 1,200 new season tickets sold.
